Now that a Democrat is in office, should you buy a gun now, while you still can?

On the issue of gun control Mr. Obama stated “As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.”

Humm.. what part of “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” does he not understand?  Infringed means ‘to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another’ also, to encroach (to enter by gradual steps or by stealth into the possessions or rights of another).

While he doesn’t seem to be any more radical than any other gun control freak, he does support the encroachment of gun rights. Keep in mind, the NAZI’s made it illegal for citizens to have guns..

Dave Kopel & Richard Griffiths remarked on the issue of guns:

“One never knows if one will need a fire extinguisher. Many people go their whole lives without needing to use a fire extinguisher, and most people never need firearms to resist genocide. But if you don’t prepare to have a life-saving tool on hand during an unexpected emergency, then you and your family may not survive.”

Having said that, those who own guns have the responsibility of protecting their home and their family - and also their guns.  Anyone who owns a gun may have self protection in mind - although he also has a priority to protect his guns as well.

Anyone who owns a guns  should always keep his gun collection locked away in a safe or gun cabinet. You can get many different types of gun safes, that will hold a variable amount of guns.  The unthinkable can happen if the wrong individual gets a hold of your guns.  Always keep them well protected - and locked up.

Fireproof gun safes can protect guns and keep them safe in the event of a fire.  Even though gun owners have the responsibility to keep their guns out of the reach of others, they also ensure that no harm comes to their guns as well.

Your gun is locked up, and children should be educated that a real gun is not a toy.

Many people state that your gun shouldn’t be loaded and the ammo shouldn’t be stored in the same place. You won’t see that bullshit here. What good is a gun if it isn’t loaded and your ammo isn’t with it?  “Oh wait mr robber, while I load my gun. I know that your gun is alreay loaded, Mr. Robber, but in the name of fairness, I call a time out!”
Keep in mind that children may look for your gun on purpose, knowing that the guns are something that you use.  Therefore, simply putting your guns on a higher shelf doesn’t really protect your children.  If a child wants something bad enough, he or she will do anything possible to get it.  The only real way to keep your guns safe from children is to ensure that they are always locked up in fireproof safe or traditional gun safe.

Children may show interest in guns at an early age, which can be a good thing but can also be a bad thing.  At a young age, a child won’t know anything about gun safety.  Therefore, if a child happens to come across your guns, bad things can happen.  If you have guns if your home, you should always make a point to teach your children gun safety.  This way, they will know that they aren’t allowed to handle your guns, and they’ll be aware of what can happen if they do.

By keeping your firearms in a gun safe, you’ll keep your guns away from children and others.  Fireproof safes will also keep your guns protected in the event of fire, which makes them an ideal investment.

So should you go out and buy a gun just because Barack Obama is President? Yes, if you want to defend yourself, your family and your property.

No, if you want to go out and kill people.
